Joint Health and Safety Committee

Contract Article 32 creates a joint FOP-MCP Health and Safety Committee consisting of three bargaining unit members appointed by the FOP and three members appointed by management.  In addition, there is one alternate member appointed by each side. Every six months, the chair rotates.

In 2003, this Committee was renamed from the "Safety Committee" to the "Health and Safety Committee" in an attempt to place equal emphasis on officer health.  The change did not alter the Committee's charge.

The Committee makes recommendations to the president and police chief. Those recommendations require mutual approval before implementation.
